The Secure Browser uses virtualization technology to provide a safer web experience to users and organizations. When using the Secure Browser any changes or malicious files inadvertently downloaded from the Internet are contained within the secure browser, keeping the underlying OS and computer secure from hostile changes. Any changes resulting from browser activity may be quickly and easily reset to effectively “undo” such changes and return it to its initially installed state. This makes it much easier to clean a system and bring the user back to full productivity. Secure Browsers also offer the option of specifying “white” and “black” lists to control what processes may be started or what sites may be visited. Limiting browser use to specific sites can control usage and protect from cross site scripting attacks. By specifying which sites are to be blocked, it makes it easy to keep users away from known bad sites, and thereby limit their exposure to attacks. In controlling what processes may be started, the browser will not run programs or plug-ins without permission to do so, which allows for the prevention of many attacks before they can even be initiated.

Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0 Beta

The first Beta development milestone of the next generation of Microsoft Security Essentials is now available for download. Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0 Beta is offered to early adopters through Microsoft Connect. For the time being, the Beta Build, version 2.0.0375.0, is only offered to testers in the United States, and Brazil (Brazilian Portuguese). It is important to underline that Microsoft Security Essentials 2.0 is in Beta stage at this point in time, and as such designed for testing exclusively, and not for deployment in production environments.

1. Windows® Firewall integration: Microsoft Security Essentials setup allows you to turn on Windows Firewall.

2. Enhanced protection from web-based threats: Microsoft Security Essentials has enhanced integration with Internet Explorer® which helps prevent malicious scripts from running and provides improved protection against web based attacks.

3. New and improved protection engine: The updated engine offers enhanced detection and cleanup capabilities and better performance.

Vista Gets 7 More years Support

People who are currently running Windows Vista and those who will buy Vista will get extended  more years of support from Microsoft. Generally speaking, “end of sales” is a term used to describe the deadlines when it will no longer be possible for customers to obtain a product through retailers, system builders or OEMs (such as Dell, Lenovo or Sony).  In this week’s announcement, the Windows team blog outlined specific rules that will govern the availability of Windows products in each of these channels.  Basically, the revised end of sales policy for Windows is based on when the next version of Windows will be available.  Once the new version is released, it will start an end of sales clock in each of the channels.  Retailers, for example, will be able to sellthe previous version of Windows for one year following the release of a new version.  For OEMs, that deadline is 2 years.

Airtel to Launch iPhone 4

Leading mobile operator, Bharti Airtel is looking to launch Apple’s iPhone 4 in India in September or October, Chief Executive Officer for India and South Asia Sanjay Kapoor said on Monday.

We are working with Apple. Hopefully, we will launch it in the September-October timeframe,” Bharti Airtel CEO Sanjay Kapoor told reporters on the sidelines of a CII industry conference.
Bharti Airtel already sells iPhone 3GS in India priced at Rs 35,500 for the 16 GB model and Rs 41,500 for the 32GB model.

With the launch of third generation mobile services in the country by the end of this year, the sale of such high end devices are likely to get a boost.

PowerPoint Viewer lets you view full-featured presentations created in PowerPoint 97 and later versions with full fidelity. This viewer also supports opening password-protected Microsoft PowerPoint presentations. You can view and print presentations, but you cannot edit them in the PowerPoint Viewer.

According to Microsoft, the new PowerPoint viewer is expected to present all the new transitions, video and effects exactly like in PowerPoint 2010.
