How to Root Oneplus One (opo) = 1+1

The First question that comes to mind is why root a brand new phone which may even spoil its software/bootloader.
The No.1 Reason for the rooting your phone is to become Super admin of your phone, unlike those who do not wish to root, they are just normal users who don't wish to control their phone as Super admin, apart from this here are some more reason why we root.

1. Backup and Restore full phone aps+ data
2. Block some of the pop-up ads which are irritating, we know ads are good and informative but those pops are really deal breakers.
3. Saving battery by hibernating aps which we do not want them to be running on the background.
4. Install a whole lot of Custom roms and recovery, with a customer recovery it opens up many options like Wipe Data, Wipe Cache and Install from zip, sideload adb, a lot more options then on a factory installed recovery.

So here we go with Rooting with our oneplus One
First and foremost backup backup do not forget to backup your data, as unlocking bootloader might wipe your internal storage data.

Method 1:
1. To Root you need to be able to connect your phone to the computer and install adb drivers for your phone ([ Generic Universal samsung usb drivers will work]) Alternatively you can download Android Development KIT.
You can download the Minimal ADB from here

Download following customer Recoveries:
TWRP Recovery Download Here
CWM Recovery for Oneplus one: Download here
Download Superuser from here - (

2 . With minimal adb it is very easy and is a small file which can be downloaded easily.
Once Download Install the USB Phone Drivers, these drivers are needed for the phone to be detected and communicated with the computer.
Go to the directory where minial adb installed and click on the executable which will open up a small command prompt.
Entering Fastboot mode: Manually Enter fastboot mode: Turn the phone off. Hold volume up + power until the “fastboot” screen appears.
Once in fastboot mode, type the following command to check if the device is detected
C> adb devices
This will show you the list of devices that are connected with device ID, as shown below.

Now that the device is connected, you can simply use the following command unlock your bootloader.

adb> fastboot oem unlock
adb> fastboot reboot
Now your done your device bootloader is unlocked congratulations.
3. Now In your phone settings > about phone > Hit Build No. so that developer options are enabled.
In developer options Select USB Debugging enable. (Check that)
1. Uncheck CM Update Recover
2. Check Enable USB debugging mode.

 As shown above.
Copy the Recovery and Superuser apk in the internal storage.

5. Put the phone back into Fastboot mode, by pressing Power + Volume down button (when phone is switched off) or by typing the following command on terminal
adb> adb reboot bootloader
Now for flashing recovery:
fastboot flash recovery your_recovery_image.img
If you are flashing TWRP then use:
fastboot flash recovery openrecovery-twrp-
Or use
fastboot flash recovery cwm.img

If everything went right then you have successfully installed TWRP recovery.

6. To Installed Superuser which we downloaded above.
Put that zip file in the internal storage.
Now boot your phone into recovery by pressing Volume up and Power button (when phone is off)
Or See here how to access recover
Once in recovery, click install, select superuser zip file and install.
Once installed your device is rooted.
Now you can enjoy your phone with unlocked bootloader and Rooted
The Method 2 with Oneplus one toolkit will be discussed later.,
